Known for her watercolors and pen & ink, Western New York artist Lynn Jay enjoys incorporating her love of detail into her art. Her realistic works include landscapes, pastoral scenes, pet and animal portraits and house portraits among others. While embracing detail in her paintings, she is able to imbue a softness and tranquility to her subject. Her artwork is represented in private collections throughout the U.S., largely via her commissions.
Having offered classes for over 30 years through a number of different venues, she is currently offering through the Centennial Art Center in Hamburg, NY and the Community Education Department of the Orchard Park School District in Orchard Park, NY. Lynn thoroughly enjoys sharing her love of art with students and finds encouraging them to develop their own style especially rewarding.
Largely self-taught, Lynn’s work has been exhibited in many shows presented by the Centennial Art Center, winning awards for her watercolors “Sunday Afternoon” and “Sentinel of the Waterfront” which features one of the iconic grain elevators so indicative of her hometown Buffalo area. In 2014, she hosted a one-woman art show held at the Ten Thousand Vines Winery in Hamburg.
